We recommit ourselves to the ideas of the American Founding…

February 18, 2010

Great, now how about an actual plan? Everyone’s all aflutter over the Mt. Vernon statement, and I see why, it is just a rehash of the same stuff any “conservative” politician will spew at a campaign rally. I want to see some specifics.

Sarah Palin talks some sense

“Now the smart thing will be for independents who are such a part of this Tea Party movement to, I guess, kind of start picking a party,” Palin said. “Which party reflects how that smaller, smarter government steps to be taken? Which party will best fit you? And then because the Tea Party movement is not a party, and we have a two-party system, they’re going to have to pick a party and run one or the other: ‘R’ or ‘D’.”

Grover Norquist says Sarah Palin isn’t running for President because she isn’t attending CPAC. Or maybe she knows where the energy is right now.

Now that Pakistan has gotten serious we seem to be rolling up Taliban leaders pretty quickly.

This will be a godsend – Microsoft to pull facebook and MySpace into Outlook. Why? Why!? it will just be a timewaster it won’t accomplish anything useful.

Boob War?

Generation Zero is a documentary about the current economic crisis seen from a cultural perspective. Citizens United created the movie, they are the same folks that created “Hillary The Movie” and whose lawsuit brought about the recent Supreme Court ruling on campaign finance.

UN climate chief resigning. It has nothing to do with climategate. Really.

This doesn’t make Glenn Beck look real good. As much as I dislike Rachel Maddow I have to give her this one.

http://www.wnyc.org/shows/radiolab/episodes/2009/10/02 was on the radio when drivin’ past Silverton YESTERDAY; how ironic, hearing about how the townsfolk in that pokey lil’ Oregon burg would defend their then-newly-elected transgender mayor by counter-picketing the fundy out-of-town picketers. While crossdressing themselves. (Cue, “The Lumberjack Song”). Likely worth the use of your ears for a bit, methinks.

OBTW, WordPress was down when I tried to access it at 1511 local, showing “WordPress.com will be back in a minute!” until 1522. Ping time was 116-166 ms, avg 147 ms. I use OpenDNS for name resolution, in case WordPress asks.

What part of the Constitution was Sarah Palin reading when she decided we have a two party system? How did she discern that to be the intent of the Founders?

Methinks neither the Demopublicans nor the Republicrats are a party which favors ‘smaller, smarter government,’ and, by definition, the Incumbent Party surely does not. Hint for Sarah: It begins with the letter L.

Come on you’re playing coy. You know as well as I do that structurally with our winner take all system that the US has a two-party system. That is what she was talking about. Even if we didn’t I am not sure that Palin would be a Libertarian. small l maybe big L I doubt it.
