Big Change in California

June 9, 2010

As far as I know there were no real surprises in the various election results last night; maybe Blanche Lincoln winning but I fully expected that. What I didn’t expect was CA voters approving an top two primary system for statewide and congressional races, except the presidency. I don’t know how much impact it will have but the fact it was approved shows how dissatisfied voters were/ are. It’s especially striking given that 5 years ago Arnold Schwarzenegger tried to get an initiative passed to fix the gerrymandered congressional districts, with the same goal of forcing some change in Sacramento, and it was rejected. I guess people have finally had enough.

Why would anyone give unfettered access to sensitive diplomatic cables to a 22 year old Army specialist?

The State Department and American embassies around the world are bracing for what officials fear could be the massive, unauthorized release of secret diplomatic cables in which U.S. diplomats harshly evaluate foreign leaders and reveal the inner-workings of American foreign policy.

Diplomatic and law-enforcement officials tell The Daily Beast their alarm stems from the arrest of a 22-year-old Army intelligence analyst based in Iraq who has reportedly admitted that he downloaded 260,000 diplomatic cables from government computer networks and was prepared to make them public.

(…)

The cables, which date back over several years, went out over interagency computer networks available to the Army and contained information related to American diplomatic and intelligence efforts in the war zones in Afghanistan and Iraq, the diplomat said.

OMG, haven’t you people heard of passwords? In Wired magazine, the accused was quoted as saying that he would bring CD-RW disk into the secure area labeled something like Lady Gaga music, then sing Lady Gaga songs while erasing the disk and copying new files to it. Not allowing Lady Gaga songs in government facilities might be a security measure they could implement immediately. OK, seriously disabling the read/write drive might be a way to go as well as not allowing outside media. I worked a government project at one time that was nowhere near as sensitive as this and I wasn’t even allowed to access the files from my own computer and they are giving this kid a laptop with a CD-RW drive on a Top Secret network? No wonder we are losing the cyberwar.

The latest Sarah Palin scandal – breast implants

The above is the photographic evidence for the charge. Inconclusive at best and my opinion is that it is just an optical illusion caused by the way the t-shirt is clinging compared with to semi-baggy running tops.

Update: The Other McCain has picked up on the Sarah Palin Breast Implant story, just 14 hours too late.

You know, I always hear about projects with any kind of security banning cell phones with cameras (which is most of them, these days) and USB drives, and searching people to make sure they’re not smuggling printouts out, etc., but they let this guy carry a CD-RW into a secure area? WTF? Who care’s what’s he’s written on it!

Inconclusive at best and my opinion is that it is just an optical illusion caused by the way the t-shirt is clinging compared with to semi-baggy running tops.

Especially if she’s wearing a push-up bra or Wonderbra with the clingy top and regular bras with the other ones. The combination can make a big difference. The article you linked to has the most truthful point about it, though:

The truth here is a distant second to the question’s mere existence, which should keep the web running on punchline fumes for at least a day or two.

It seems like the majority of people who criticize Palin don’t care about the truth, they just want to trash her any way they can. Remember all the speculation that Trig was actually Bristol’s baby? Not a shred of evidence, but boy did they run with that! Heck, a few nutcases still claim that, despite the fact that Bristol’s son being born 8 months after Trig means that it’s biologically impossible.

Modern Media: The truth is irrelevant if it doesn’t support The Story.

      Re: Palin

You’re correct. The only reason I linked it was to point out the continuing fascination of the left with trying to find any weapon to destroy her.

I’m mostly just fascinated with her tits and ass.

So is Andrew Sullivan, oh wait he is fascinated with her vagina. Never mind.

I am actually surprised that more people didn’t latch onto this. Oh well I guess me and wonkette own it now.

On a more serious note, being a Republican voter in California is a most dismaying experience sometimes. And now the public has decided to make it even more difficult for a Republican to present his or her views to the voters.

I latched onto that most recent photo last week; I thought enough of it to add to my Sarah folder, which now has about 75 pictures, but not enough to speculate as to whether her rack had grown any. (Besides, I’m more of a leg man anyway.)

Was busy with other things. Just happen to see that Tabitha Hale had blogged about it while I was advance posting an exclusive for Thursday morning.
