It’s another slow day here
Down to the Portland area and back yesterday. That stretch between Olympia and Vancouver is one of the most boring drives in the country, especially at about 5 AM.
I saw where the House approved the DADT compromise. It’s a step forward but I am still leery about the wording, at least the way it is being report.
The Other McCain reports there are rumors that Ruth Bader Ginsburg is going to retire. The theory is apparently that the White House is scared that they may not be able to get a Justice confirmed after Nov. I remain less than optimistic. From what I have heard Rand Paul continues to self-destruct, the CEO of the WWE is trying to buy her way into a Senate seat, Rubio is still polling behind Crist, Rossi is behind Murray and the GOP is 6 pts behind the Dems in the Generic Congressional Ballot. None of that makes me feel good. (polls)
More on immigrants making cities safer – Last week I linked an article in reason magazine that linked high numbers of immigrants in a city with lower crime rates. Now Newsweek has a similar article, only it is being used to attack the ne AZ. immigration law. As you know I am not a fan of the law as written, but I support the intent, Newsweek just plain hates the idea of border enforcement.
Speaking of polls, 538 has a series of posts up that really call Rasmussen’s accuracy into question. They also put the GOP chances of a Senate takeover at just 6%.
Well. I was having a pretty good day until I read this post, Debbie Downer.
**cuts self**
sorry. I don’t mean to be a downer but I think it’s better to have realistic expectations now than to get my emotions crushed in Nov.
In the Daily Kos poll, Paul is holding steady. Even after the week of hammering by the MSM his didn’t lose any ground. The next Rasmussen Reports poll will be the one to watch. They have been tracking much more accurately.
