Charles Johnson (gasp) parts ways with the right…

December 1, 2009

Question remains – do we care?

Obviously a little or I wouldn’t be posting this, but I doubt it’s for the same reasons that Johnson thinks we should care.

It’s a shame in my opinion. Little Green Footballs was one of the first blogs I ever read back when rather-gate was going on. I enjoyed it back then but even then I had issues with Johnson. His restriction of comments, the tone of some of his posts it rubbed me the wrong way so I stopped reading his site. I only started again when this long slow descent into madness began. Anyway, with this latest post the ties are broken and I guess Johnson is as fair game as any other leftist.

So what are his reasons for this very public split (or as The Other McCain puts it his his parting of the ways with reality)? Ace puts it very well –

1) The right is a bunch of stupid haters.

Repeat x10.

And that is essentially true. Go look at his reasons –

5. Support for homophobic bigotry (see: Sarah Palin, Dobson, the entire religious right, etc.)

10. Hatred for President Obama that goes far beyond simply criticizing his policies, into racism, hate speech, and bizarre conspiracy theories (see: witch doctor pictures, tea parties, Birthers, Michelle Malkin, Fox News, World Net Daily, Newsmax, and every other right wing source)

Etc. It’s ironic because as far as I know the only position that Sarah Palin has taken on homosexuality is that opposing gay marriage -WHICH IS EXACTLY THE SAME POSITION TAKEN BY BARACK OBAMA! And bizarre conspiracy theories? What about 9/11 truthers. Hatred? Keith Olberman and that stupid ass congressman from Florida who thinks Republicans want to kill old people. Or how about Daily Kos which had almost daily posting urging someone to kill President Bush?

His reasons make no sense in other words. In my opinion he is just mad because we challenge and make fun of him. Well to bad paste eater you bring it on yourself.

Little Miss Attila has a pretty good take on the situation

Jules Crittenden

He really only offers the broadest outlines of his crazy hate problem, basically how some people drive him crazy, and he hates them. Which is too bad, because even if you buy the premise that broad swaths of America are crazy and hateful, it doesn’t get into what he finds so attractive about the presumeably sane, loving, rational part. I would have preferred a detailed description of the moment when all that inclusive thoughtful concern hit him like a silver bullet, when the switch flipped on the bright shining light on the road to Damascus, when … enveloped by its warm, mentally balanced, nurturing embrace … he started frothing about the hateful craziness. Also, how the crazy hating on his new side of the aisle fits into his new anti-hate/crazy world view.
