Fort Hood Suspect Communicated With Radical Cleric, Authorities Say

The NY Times is reporting that the communications occured via electronic means (rather than carrier pigeon I guess) but CBS like NPR is reporting that there are no communications on Hassan’s computer.

I’m not going to say that Hassan was an al-Qai’da member but the FBI’s version just doesn’t sound entirely truthful. My bet is he was a sympathizer who decided to take action himself. That still makes him a terrorist just a lone actor. The same type of person that DHS warned about earlier this year when they were warning about right wing extremism.

The FBI doesn’t always have the sharpest tools in the shed.

“CBS like NPR is reporting that there are no communications on Hassan’s computer.”
Web based email service. Nothing is saved on your computer.

True, but generally the email service leaves a cookie or some other marker behind so you would think the FBI could find that.

Sometimes they can’t find their own behinds. Several programs will routinely remove cookies ant internet history.

Posted that last too quick. The communications are not on his computer, but on the net so that technically the “news” reports are right.
