I expended all my outrage last night

April 6, 2010

so I don’t really have much more to say about the President’s idiotic nuclear weapons decision, but these people do.

So does Bring the Heat Bring the Stupid, Ace of Spades, Unreligious Right, the Guardian ((which sounds OK with it, idiots) via The Daley Gator) QandO

-elsewhere-

Appeals court rules FCC has no power to enforce Net Neutrality rules. Get ready for higher prices and crappier service. Especially Comcast customers.

Think Progress is angried up because ExxonMobil didn’t pay any income taxes. I admit I was too until I read the blurb in their posting -

Exxon tries to limit the tax pain with the help of 20 wholly owned subsidiaries domiciled in the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands that (legally) shelter the cash flow from operations in the likes of Angola, Azerbaijan and Abu Dhabi. No wonder that of $15 billion in income taxes last year, Exxon paid none of it to Uncle Sam, and has tens of billions in earnings permanently reinvested overseas.

and why would that be? Because the US has the 2nd or 3rd highest corporate tax rate in the world. It makes more business sense to keep the money over seas. Especially when under American law they are taxed twice on overseas profits. So the US could lower tax rates and fix the double taxing and get a large slice of a very large pie or we can continue like we are and get nothing. That seems a no brainer.

I expended all my outrage last night

    I’ll loan you a little.

Even worse, the admin put in so many weasel words, they invalidate their own premise.

Have you ever heard this saying about the types of officers -

The brilliant and energetic man makes the best staff officer. He handles routine work with accuracy and completeness.

The brilliant and lazy man makes the best commanding officer. He tends to see the big picture accurately and avoids preoccupation with detail work which might distract him.

The stupid and lazy man makes the best subordinate. He will do what he is told properly, no more no less.

The stupid and energetic man, however, is to be avoided at all costs. He is quite capable of ruining the best laid plans.

    Obama is very energetic.
